An alliance to battle Poachers who threaten both species, and a sustainable future

This weekend this story crossed my desk:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/21/magazine/palau-vs-the-poachers.html

It is a compelling story of technology working together with Rangers who are on the front lines of stopping the major extinction which is now underway.

The story itself includes these collaborators:

SkyTruth.org - who use advanced satellite imaging and human ingenuity to identify poachers on the seas around Palau (@SkyTruth)

Palau Rangers who pursue poachers, and face the risks

an adviser from the Pew Charitable Trust (@pewenvironment - a great resource!)

two Australian Navy officers, on loan to Palau

the Remeliik - a cutter capable of an open sea chase - also on loan from Australia

A compelling read - including graphic descriptions of the horrors of poaching

Upcoming: a partnership that offers the promise to up the world's game against poaching

Right?!  After four centuries of chattel slavery, Jim Crow, and de facto wide-spread discrimination, America’s “Negro Problem” is finally solved.   We accommodate our disabled friends fully in all aspects of our common
A Proposal: The Democracy and Human Rights Amendments to the Constitution
The last two weeks a radical right wing Supreme Court radically transformed American life in all the wrong ways across a broad array of issues: women's rights, environmental regulations, gun safety, immigrant rights, indigenous rights, housing, public health, and protecting people from police violence. The conservative majority made decisions to take away fundamental rights and in other cases the Court stripped away legislation and regulation that the overwhelming majority of Americans desire and demand. The Supreme Court fed every right wing ideological bent undermining their own legitimacy and with it, the foundations of our democratic republic. Our democracy does not consistently represen
