Megadams = Megadamage: Reject Canadian Hydro

This event will feature Indigenous and allied land and water protectors discussing the environmental and human impacts of megadams.

Importing Canadian hydropower is not a climate solution but a climate disaster. State-owned hydropower monopolies in Canada have stolen the lands of Indigenous people who have lived there for millennia, contributed to the cultural genocide of Indigenous communities, and threatened the health and livelihoods of frontline communities.

Megadam hydropower is dirty energy: it poisons wild food supplies with methylmercury, destroys rivers, carbon-sequestering forests, emits methane & carbon dioxide and displaces people from their lands and homes.
