in Washington, D.C.

Resist the US-Duterte Virus, Fight State Terrorism!
Monday, July 27th at 2:00PM
Starting Location: Howard University Hospital
March & Car Caravan to the Philippine Embassy

The People's SONA activities will start at Howard University Hospital to remember and uplift the life of Noel Sinkiat, one of the first Filipino nurses in the U.S. whose life was taken away by COVID-19. We will highlight the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Filipino communities in the US and in the Philippines, and continue our collective solidarity with essential workers and all frontlines who continue to serve the people.

On Monday, July 27th, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will be giving the Philippines State of the Nation Address. The administration will report on the "successes" of the country, however, the Filipino people are losing trust in the Duterte administration as ongoing oppression, human rights violations, are increasing while repressive state violence is being enforced, even during the time of a global pandemic.

Grassroots organizations, solidarity allies, and concerned community members are invited to express their outrage and condemnation of the Duterte regime's militaristic response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The People's State of the Nation Address (PSONA) will also highlight what are the real condition of Philippine society based on the aspirations of the Filipino people struggling for democracy and genuine freedom.
