Virtual Climate Rally

Join the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter, Mothers Out Front, and Virginia League of Conservation Voters as we rally together to demand action on climate change. We will be hosting an interactive online climate rally for folks in the Hampton Roads are to join together with others in their community and rally around climate change. We will have various speakers from across Hampton Roads to touch on a wide variety of topics. Registration is required in order to receive log-on and call in information to participate.

Virtual Climate Rally Photo Contest:
Leading up to the rally, we will be featuring a Hampton Roads Climate Change Photo Contest! This is a great opportunity to explore your creativity and express your passion and love for the environment, all while connecting with others in your community! There will be 5 winners to the contest who will each get a giftcard to a local business of their choice. 1st place will get a $50 dollar gift card, and the other 4 winners will receive a $25 gift card. Submissions will be accepted from residents of Hampton Roads. Submissions should involve a photo that showcases one of the following areas;

Why you care about climate change
Ways that you have seen people respond to climate change
Why you love the environment or your community in a way that’s tied to climate change
Impacts of climate change in your life or community

Photos will be judged based on the quality of the photo and effectiveness of the overall message.

How to Submit Your Photo:
Official submissions only accepted via email. Submit your photo by emailing ann.creasy@sierraclub.org with your photo and your brief explanation of how your photo connects to climate change in the email. Title your email “Hampton Roads Climate Rally Photo Contest”. Please include in the body of the email your first and last name, city of residence, and a phone number to reach you in case you win! All submissions will be captured by April 22nd. Emailed submissions may be posted on facebook or twitter pages of Sierra Club Virginia Chapter, Virginia League of Conservation Voters, or Mothers Out Front Hampton Roads. We will select winners to announce at the Virtual Climate Rally on April 24th. Winning photos will be featured on the climate rally.

Optional Social Media promotion for Photo Contest and Climate Rally:
Tell your friends about the rally and promote your photo submission using the hashtag #HamptonRoadsClimateRally on facebook or twitter. You could also include a link to encourage others to register for the Virtual Climate Rally in your post or tweet. The link is: vasierra.club/virtualclimaterally. A sample phrase you can include; “Join the Hampton Roads Virtual Climate Rally on April 24: vasierra.club/virtualclimaterally”.
