XR London Action: The Great March for Truth

Media: Tell the Truth on Climate & Ecological Emergencies.

The tides are changing. The world is gradually waking up to the climate and ecological crisis.

However, a large chunk of the mainstream media is still doing the planet a criminal disservice and not telling the public the truth. Climate denial is flourishing. It is time the corporate media fulfill a basic duty of care for their readers and prepare them for what is to come, so we can begin safeguarding our future together.

As the Rolling Rebellion (beginning 23rd May) draws near, plans to put more pressure on the mainstream media are formulating. As part of Extinction Rebellion’s 2020 strategy, we know we must put more focus on the toxic pillars of power that prop up the government.

If the media won’t deliver the truth to us, then we will bring it to them.

During the second week of the Rolling Rebellion, Extinction Rebellion will be staging non-violent direct actions from 28th to 30th of May inviting the global corporate media to step in to this historic responsibility, to use the enormous political power of their media organisations, on behalf of all humanity and nature.

These protests - in collaboration with international XR groups around the world - will culminate on Saturday 30th of May with The Great March for Truth, assembling at the News Corp HQ at London Bridge. It will then process up the old Roman Road (The A10) to Broxbourne to the Broxbourne Printing Works, which we will peacefully blockade.

A contingency plan for the Rolling Rebellion is also coming together in the wake of Coronavirus, so the above is subject to change.
