Environmental Justice: In Theory and In Practice

  • 3179

Did you know those most impacted by our climate crisis are those least responsible for the crisis itself?

Join us on Earth Day to learn about Environmental Justice and how it relates to climate policy decision making.

During this virtual event you will engage with what Environmental Justice means, how local cases of pollution and dirty energy infrastructure affect real people, and ways you can contribute to enacting change.

This hour together will include a teach-in from a local professor as well as a presentation from Alice Arena, the Executive Director of Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station (FRRACS).

FRRACS is a local community group that is working to protect the community and environment from the destruction of the fossil fuel industry. Enbridge, a Canadian gas company, is attempting to construct a fracked-gas compressor station in a densely populated location on the South Shore, next to two environmental justice neighborhoods. FRRACS has been fighting for five years to stop this project and will continue to fight until the station is shut down.
