MONIFA BANDELE
Based in New York, Monifa Bandele is Senior Vice President for MomsRising.org, an on-the-ground and online grassroots organization of more than a million people who are working to achieve economic security for all moms, women, and families in the United States. There, she leads work on maternal and children’s health successfully winning policies at the federal and state levels that reduce maternal and infant mortality. Monifa is on the leadership team for the Policy Table for the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL). Additionally, she is on the steering committee of the New York-based Communities United for Police Reform representing the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, which is a member organization of Movement for Black Lives. Just in the past decade, she led the launch of two historic and successful legal cases against police misconduct (Daniels v NYC and Floyd v NYC); worked to pass landmark police reform legislation in New York City (Community Safety Act 2013) and New York State (Repeal CRL 50-a bill, Special Prosecutor, and NY STAT Act); and was a contributing writer to M4BL’s Vision for Black Lives.

DWAYNE WHARTON
Based in Philadelphia, Dwayne Wharton is a health and equity advocate working locally, globally, and everywhere in between to help build healthier communities. Prior to founding Just Strategies, he has held leadership positions in several prominent non-profit organizations and has helped to advance local, state and federal policies, promote health equity, and worked to eliminate disparities across multiple determinants of health. Dwayne is an appointed member and co-chair of the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on African-American Males (MCAAM) and the Philadelphia Food Policy Advisory Council (FPAC) where he Chairs the Health Subcommittee. He also serves on the boards of the Greater Philadelphia Philanthropy Network, American Heart Association, Kynett Foundation, Bridging the Gaps Community Health Internship Program, and the Alliance for Agriculture in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Dwayne is a former Peace Corps volunteer, and is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader.
