Philly Car Protest for School Safety, Health and Equity

  • 3884

The School District of Philadelphia was right to concede to the demands of hundreds of educators, students, and families, and revise their Reopening Plan to include 100% remote instruction this fall. However, this is a temporary reprieve. We must continue to resist premature reopening and fight for system-wide, permanent improvements to school conditions.

Please join our car protest at 8:00 am August 3 at the School District of Philadelphia (440 N. Broad St.) to demand measures necessary for remote learning and an eventual return to safe face-to-face instruction. These measures include: equitable access to online learning, translation and interpretation, smaller class sizes, adequate ventilation and PPE, cleaning, COVID testing, lead/asbestos/mold abatement, and increased staffing.

Special thanks to this event's co-sponsors: Racial Justice Organizing Committee, Working Educators, and Our City Our Schools.

This event is part of a National Day of Resistance for Safe, Healthy, and Equitable Schools. Similar mobilizations will be taking place in cities across the country. In Philadelphia, please also check out the Reopening Schools Rally at 11am and Comcast, Give Our Students Internet! protest at 3pm.
