Environmental & Racial Justice, Here and Now in the era of Covid-19, Where do We Go From Here?

During this event, we will discuss holistic initiatives to promote and spread awareness of environmental shortfalls while addressing the discrepancies of health, education, and finance in and near our communities. These topics will be discussed and displayed via a virtual panel-style webinar titled: Environmental & Racial Justice, Here and Now in the era of Covid-19, Where do We Go From Here?

Panelists confirmed for the event are:

David K. Paylor, Director of the Department of Environmental Quality, appointed by Governor Ralph Northam in 2018 and previously appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe in 2014 and by Governor Bob McDonnell in January 2010. He originally was appointed director by Governor Timothy Kaine in 2006.

Karri Atwood, Environmental Health Coordinator, Legal Affairs for Virginia Department of Health, and environmental justice advocate.

Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy, Democratic candidate for the Virginia Governor, Member of the Virginia House of Delegates, One of the first (1st) African-American Women to graduate from Virginia Military Institute, Public Defender, and Magistrate Judge.

Garry Harris, Sustainability Manager President/CEO/Founder at Sustainability Solutions Group and Founder of the SMART Academy Center of Excellence for STEM education and serves as the Regional Director for Globe (Environmental Education), environmental justice advocate, and etc.

Esi Langston, Sustainability Manager at the City of Norfolk.

Dr. Camellia Moses Okpodu, Dean of Arts and Sciences at Xavier University of Louisiana, Plant Biochemist, State of Louisiana 2019 Endowed Professor of Science, In 2015 her biography became part of the National Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., and featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1999.
