SURJ’s Political Education/Learning group is starting back up! July 1st will be the first meeting. The group will meet on the first Wednesday of every month, starting on July 1st, from 7-8:30 PM on zoom.
Zoom info will be posted closer to the date to prevent zoom bombing.
To prepare for the July 1st meeting, the group will be reading the first three chapters of Ibram X. Kendi’s book, "How to Be an Antiracist." The group will be reading the entirety of the book over the next few months. So, if you're not able to get a copy or read the material by July 1st, please feel free to come to the meeting anyway and/or to return next month. All are welcome!
Where can I get the book?
1) Mail order – lots of local bookstores are shipping
2) Online via Enoch Pratt Free Library
Please connect with Laura Grothaus at: laura.e.grothaus@gmail.com if you are interested in joining. You will be invited to join a google group as a way of connecting those who are interested in the monthly meetings.
This event will take place over zoom. Please get in touch with any accessibility needs so we can make sure this event is open and available for all. Zoom does not provide closed captioning, but we are able to set up a caption buddy system for those who need it.
