We will hold an action targeting the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Monday June 29 at 10 AM.

We will meet at Lafayette Park Entrance at S Commonwealth Ave & Wilshire Blvd.

Then begin our march to AAGLA offices -- 621 S Westmoreland Ave #100, Los Angeles, CA 90005 and end at LAPD Rampart Substation -- 1340 W 6th St 90017.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles (AAGLA) have a long-standing history of brutality and housing injustice--particularly toward Black and other people of color. Los Angeles law enforcement recently killed Andres Guardado while they continue to carry out illegal evictions and while AAGLA is notoriously infamous for its racist displacement of low income residents.

These racist civil (dis)servants and landlords take advantage of these communities, who are largely renters and living paycheck to paycheck. LAPD and AAGLA notoriously target and take advantage of these tenants who are susceptible to socio-economic disenfranchisement and do not have access to capital and legal resources. These inequalities we see today are a result of the USA’s racist history.

Property owners fund the police with rent that tenants pay. These monies are funneled into property taxes which ultimately becomes more than half of our city budget to fund more policing, abuse and killing of Black and other people of color.

As LATU continues to rally for rent cancellation, protections against landlord harassment and dignified shelter for the houseless — we know that housing justice is racial justice. In recognition of the intersectionality of our movements -- we stand with Black Lives Matter in a call for defunding police.
