CPAC 101: Community Control of the Chicago Police

In this moment of struggle, one of the central demands of Chicago's black-led leftist organizations, like the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (CAARPR), Black Lives Matter Chicago, and others, is the passage of the CPAC ordinance. As a member of CAARPR, CDSA too is committed to its enactment, which would create a Civilian Police Accountability Council. But what is that? And why would it be any different from the mediocre police-reform measures our city has seen before? Is passing it a real political possibility?
