This year’s theme of the Mni Ki Wakan: World Indigenous Peoples’ Decade of Water, “Addressing the Western World: An Indigenous Call to Higher Consciousness,” centers the collective wisdom and transformative power of indigenous peoples in responding to the current issues of the global water crisis.
In upholding our responsibilities to future generations and strengthening our distinctive spiritual relationships with waters and coastal seas (Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Article 25), Mni Ki Wakan calls on Indigenous Peoples, youth, and relevant global actors to identify collective strategies, priorities, and initiatives for collaboration.
Explore ways to support and strengthen Indigenous Peoples’ human rights; build consensus, and develop innovative ideas in sessions; strengthen collaboration and meaningful connections; increase access to information, knowledge, tools, and approaches.
