From School to Work: An Introduction to Policing and its Impacts

  • 3056

A national conversation has erupted about the future of policing. Though this year's Black Lives Matter protests have brought many policy changes, most demands remain unmet and ignored. However, the energy for reimagining policing remains and the discontent people have with the state of policing is clear—and there is much more work to be done.

Join our upcoming panel on Policing and its Impacts, where we are giving space to three local actors and their work around policing and its impacts on communities. We'll be joined by Natacia Knapper, Field Organizer with ACLU-DC; Samantha Davis, Founder and Executive Director of Black Swan Academy; and Shannon Battle of Free Minds Book Club for a discussion of the impacts of policing in communities and what we can do to create a better future.

If you want to get involved in organizing around these issues, a Washingtonian interested in the state of DC policing, or want to hear the stories of Black and Brown change agents, please join us!
