We are calling for an emergency protest action on Monday June 29 at 6:00PM outside the Philippine Embassy to condemn the Anti-Terror Bill. This is part of BAYAN USA's national day of action in an effort to Stop The Anti-Terrorism Bill from becoming a law.

The "Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020", also known as the Anti-Terror Bill, signifies the death of democracy through its vague and overreaching definition of "terrorism". This ruthless piece of legislature gives the Duterte regime Martial Law-level powers, short of its formal declaration, to accuse any opposition as a "terrorist", and to have them surveilled, arrested and put under prolonged detention.

This day also marks the fourth year of Duterte's Presidency and is one week before the Anti-Terror Bill is expected to lapse into Law.

The impact on OFWs, Filipino-Americans and solidarity activists alike is tremendous and anticipated to have a chilling effect on any efforts to criticize the current regime, the inadequate response to COVID-19, effectively criminalizing any and all forms of dissent.
As Filipinos in the US, we must show our collective opposition to this bill and fight to uphold our democracy and human rights. #ActivismIsNotACrime
