I am A Human Being: Solidarity with Philly Sanitation Workers

  • 2159

This rally is organized by AFSCME DC 33 Local 427, the Campaign for a Just Philly Budget, and Philly DSA.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Philly's sanitation workers have maintained an essential city service without sufficient PPE, testing, or hazard pay. Sanitation workers and their family members are falling sick due to unsafe working conditions. Meanwhile, Mayor Kenney is threatening to cut funding for the streets department by $18 million, while increasing funding for the police by $14 million.

On Tuesday, June 9th, rally at City Hall and call City Council in support of the proud sanitation workers of AFSCME District Council 33, Local 427. Sanitation workers are demanding hazard pay, PPE, enforcement of workplace safety standards, testing for all essential workers, and fully-funded public services for all.
